Propellers of the FPP type are cast in one block and are normally made of copper alloy.
The position of the blades, and thus propeller pitch is fixed once and for all with a given pitch that cannot be changed in operation.
This means that when operating in heavy weather the propeller performance curves will change
according to the applicable physical laws. The actual propeller curve cannot be changed by the crew. Many ships that do not require particularly good maneuverability are equipped with an FPP.
